LIVE. 2025 World Athletics Championships: 3/3 in the women's 800m, Parisot, Zézé and Tual eliminated

The French team had a successful start to the World Athletics Championships, with Jimmy Gressier's surprise victory in the 10,000 meters giving France its first gold medal. Sunday was also marked by Jamaican Oblique Seville's victory in the 100m in 9.77 seconds (+0.3 m/s), ahead of his compatriot Kishane Thompson (9.82 seconds) and American Noah Lyles (9.89 seconds). On Monday, the pole vaulters put on a show with Mondo Duplantis once again crowned world champion, breaking (again and again) the world record at 6.30m. On Tuesday, the French sprinters in the 110m hurdles were unable to bring home another medal, with Kwaou-Mathey, the only Frenchman to qualify for the final, finishing 7th. Wednesday was a positive day for the sprinters, with Parisot and Zézé, but the return to reality was painful with their eliminations the following day. It was also a hard blow for Gabriel Tual, who did not advance to the 800m final.
The French team squadThere are 74 French athletes (31 women and 43 men) who will participate in the World Athletics Championships taking place in Tokyo, here is the group.
In the second semi-final of the men's 800m in the rain and on a soggy track, Gabriel Tual finished very far back, in 5th place and will not see the final.
How wonderful it is! Ivorian Talou has once again reached the 200m final at a World Championship, finishing second in the last semi-final. The favorites have all made it through; see you tomorrow!
In 22", the American won ahead of Asher-Smith in 22"21 and Moore who took 3rd place, but who will not be in the final.
It didn't go well for Frenchwoman Hélène Parisot in the women's 200m semi-finals. She finished a distant 7th in a race won by Jackson in 21.99 seconds, ahead of Hunt in 22.08 seconds.
The last semi-final of the men's 200m saw the American Noah Lyles, the reigning world champion, dominate his semi-final, clocking 19.51 seconds ahead of Hughes in 19.95 seconds and Dambile and Makarawu, who beat the clock in 19.97 seconds and 19.98 seconds.
The second 200m semi-final was too complicated for the Frenchman Zézé, who finished last in a race won by Levell in 19.78 seconds, ahead of Tebogo in 19.95 seconds. Gout Gout was also eliminated in 20.36 seconds.
The fastest men competed in a half-lap of the track. The first semi-final was won by Bednarek in 19.88 seconds, ahead of Ogando in 19.98 seconds. Charamba was third in 20.03 seconds, while Van Niekerk finished fourth.
Trinidadian Keshorn Walcott won the world title for the first time in his career with a throw of 88.16m. He finished ahead of Grenadian Anderson Peters (87.38m) and American Curtis Thompson (86.67m).
Well, it's a 3/3 for the French women in the 800m heats, since the last heat, in the rain, was much slower. Good news for French athletics.
The last Frenchwoman entered in the 800m heats, 5th at the Paris 2024 Olympics, unfortunately took 4th place and is currently the last qualified by time with one heat remaining.
The second Frenchwoman competing in the 800m heats is Anaïs Bourgoin, our best bet. The runner-up, who finished third at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, ran a very strong race, winning in 1:58.43 ahead of world champion Moraa.
First good news with the direct qualification in 2'00"17 of the Frenchwoman Liberman who finished 3rd in the first series of the 800m.
Having impressed in qualifying, Anderson Peters was only second after a throw of 87.38m, overtaken by Walcott with a throw of 87.83m.
The 5000m favorites advanced without much trouble to the final in these first races of the evening session at the Tokyo World Championships. The women's 800m heats are now on the agenda.
