He swims from Calvi to Monaco without leaving the water: Swiss Noam Yaron exceeds 130 km despite hallucinations and difficult conditions

Since Monday morning, Noam Yaron has not weakened and continues his crazy challenge: to swim from Calvi to Monaco without leaving the water , 180 kilometers in total. A feat that the swimmer attempted last year, but without success due to the weather conditions.
"Noam covered more than 110 km in more than 50 hours, beating all his personal records and especially that of his last world record attempt in 2024 which had to be interrupted due to the weather," his team rejoiced yesterday at 12 p.m. The latter regularly provides news of the Swiss swimmer and details in particular the adventures experienced by the latter.
Although the 28-year-old athlete is progressing well, the conditions are sometimes particularly difficult for him, especially on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, with rough seas, wind and head-on waves.
These climatic hazards make swimming difficult, deflecting the weighted rope to the side which serves as a reference point for sleeping while swimming.
Hallucination and sore tongue
Although the weather conditions were more favorable throughout yesterday, his team reported the first hallucinations that appeared in Noam Yaron, and in particular the encounter with a certain "Léon, his sporting alter ego" .
"He thought he had met him, found himself in a forest, and even saw a small mouse perched on the weighted rope under the catamaran." Due to ingesting seawater, he saw his tongue double in size from the sea salt. "He hydrates more to prevent the pain from getting worse."
On the logistical side, everything is going well with smooth refueling, efficient breaks and safety ensured by the skippers of the two catamarans surrounding the Swiss performance. The Excess 14 is the support boat and the Excess 11, the scientific boat responsible for taking phytoplankton and water samples to analyze the concentration of microplastics. The team, including the Scientific Council of the Lérins Islands, encountered a mobula ray, a fin whale and a group of Stenella dolphins.
Yesterday evening, Noam Yaron had covered more than 130 km of his 180 km journey and should arrive in the Principality this Thursday, at the end of the day, if he maintains his current pace.
