Football: Legends Drogba and Essien defend Mourinho, accused of racism

This Monday, after the match between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe (0-0), the Portuguese coach made some heavy comments. His former players defend him.
The former Blues manager is supported by his former players. Former Ivory Coast star striker Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, his former Ghanaian teammate at Chelsea, came to the defence of their former manager José Mourinho on Wednesday, accused of racist remarks by Turkish club Galatasaray .
The Portuguese coach, Fenerbahçe's coach, said on Monday evening that "the Galatasaray bench jumped like monkeys" in reaction to a refereeing decision during a heated derby between the two rival Istanbul clubs.
Galatasaray, the current leader of the Turkish championship, immediately said they wanted to file a complaint against the Portuguese. Fenerbahçe said in response that the comments made by their coach, "completely taken out of context (...), cannot in any way be considered racist" .
"I've seen the recent comments about Jose Mourinho. Believe me when I tell you that I've known Jose for X years and that he is not racist and that history (past and recent) is there to attest to it," wrote Didier Drogba, who played three years at Chelsea under the orders of the "Special One" , on X.
"How could my 'father' be racist?" adds the former Olympique de Marseille striker, who also played for Galatasaray where he won over the supporters.
Former Ghanaian defensive midfielder Michael Essien also came to the defence of José Mourinho, posting on X and Instagram an old photo of himself and Didier Drogba alongside the Portuguese coach accompanied by three hearts.
