Few moves, a season that starts late, the desire to win a title... the coach of the Hornets, the disabled basketball club of Cannet, confides

Daniel Paquet, the Hornets coach, had the idea of bringing together his two favorite clubs, Antibes and Le Cannet, for one evening by organizing a preparation match on Friday, September 5 in Maillan between the Sharks of Antibes (Pro B) and SLUC of Nancy (Betclic Elite), with an official presentation of the new Hornets formation at half-time.
The opportunity for him to detail the ambitions of the Cannettan club.
Let's first take stock of the movements in the workforce?
The team has seen few changes except for the arrival, or rather the return, of Alexis Ramonet. Alexis's reinforcement is a big plus after three seasons spent in Gran Canaria, Spain. On the departure side, Ivan Toscano has joined the Italian club Porto Torres and Thomas Delattre has signed for Hyères.
What ambitions will you have going into the season?
Like every year, we will do our best, hoping that the seasons follow one another and are not the same, because last year, we did not win a title despite some great performances. A gap that we must fill this season for the club and for our city.
Will the level of the championship be raised again?
The competition will still be fierce between Hyères, Meaux, Chalon, the defending champion, and Le Puy. We will have to be ready at the right time and go the distance because, this year, the championship starts late [on November 1st] due to the European Nations Cup in Sarajevo (from October 7th to 19th). We will have to manage because, on the one hand, we will have a lot of time to prepare but, on the other, barely two weeks to work together after the return of our internationals (Ramonet and Carlier with the French national team, Macek with Poland).
In the meantime, what is your preparation program?
Next weekend, we are taking part in the Meximieux tournament where we will meet Meaux, Grenoble and Strasbourg, this season's promoted team.
A final word on your new assistant, Nancy Paquet?
With Nancy by my side, who is also my wife, I will have a real advantage because she knows basketball and the team well. We are probably the first couple to coach the same team. This is an unprecedented situation, and I am very happy about it.
