Rather than debt, climate change is the real existential risk that Bayrou should focus on.

Coming out of a summer marked once again by record heat and extreme manifestations of climate change, there is something saddening and even distressing to note that nothing has changed at the highest levels of government. Certainly, in the press conference he gave a few days ago, François Bayrou vaguely justified the need to regain financial room for maneuver by evoking the climate issue. But it is clear that this remains largely an afterthought in his mind.
