And why not a cinema in place of the old social town hall in La Seyne?

During a meeting with the press dedicated to the start of the school year ( Var-matin of 27/8), the mayor of La Seyne returned to the issue of the dilapidated schools in the town center, Mabily (nursery) and Verne (elementary), for which a project planned to group them together within a new establishment, built on the former site of the social town hall and the Espace Raybaud, now demolished, rue Ernest-Renan, at the corner of boulevard du 4-Septembre.
But at the end of July, the City announced that it would have to re-examine this project ( Var-matin of 29/7), due to the additional cost of this operation, but also the regular decline in the number of students. "Even if we had the means next year, would it not be more judicious to inject these millions into all the schools to be rehabilitated, rather than into the construction of a single one, the necessity of which is perhaps not absolute, and which risks being under-exploited in the years to come?" , the elected official wondered again a few days ago.
"Equivalent in size to that of Six-Fours"If, moreover, he still gives credence to the idea of creating parking on the site of the social town hall (despite the disapproval of part of the opposition), he specifies that this will be a "temporary vocation, easy and quick to put in place, for the benefit of the attendance of the town center" . While waiting, also, to know if the school group project will be abandoned or not (this decision depending, in particular, on the conclusions of a forthcoming study on the evolution of the school population).
If necessary, another "start of reflection" , Mr. Minniti tempers, has made its way to the town hall after the announcement of a parking lot: "In the city, everyone is clamoring for a cinema. Why not build one here? There is space to build one of equivalent size to the one in Six-Fours, with a few parking spaces. It would be close to the city center of La Seyne, we can imagine that it would generate an influx. It could be a good solution to revive the heart of the city, while selling the land and collecting money."
"It's just an idea," insists the mayor of La Seyne, who also points out that such a project will not see the light of day for at least two years once launched, due to procedures. And an idea, he also knows very well, which will not fail to provoke some new reactions... "That's very good, it will have poll value," he smiles.
Verne and Mabily: "Currently, it works"Regarding the Jules-Verne elementary school, Joseph Minniti said: "It obviously needs a major facelift, but it works. And 60,000 euros of work was invested there this summer: a big lick of paint (ceilings, corridors, etc.), ceiling fans, LED lighting, toilets, etc. I think that if we continue to invest like this in Verne, I'm not sure there's any need to move it. If we had the money, I wouldn't say the same thing, but the reality is there. We don't have a single cent to build a new school; and since, to benefit from subsidies, we have to start the work... In short, it's the snake biting its own tail."
Setting up a canteen for Jules Verne? As for the three classes at the Mabily nursery school, whose condition required, four years ago now, the relocation of pupils to the Derrida school (behind the police station), the mayor of La Seyne believes that "things are not going too badly as they are" .
Except for one thing: "There is still one problem to be solved, that of catering for the Jules-Verne students," he emphasizes. Today, students are forced to take the bus at lunchtime. But one avenue is being explored: "Converting two unused classrooms into a canteen, but this involves managing the health and regulatory aspects for the transport of hot meals from the central kitchen..."
A solution agreed upon "during this year" is, according to him, possible.
