"I just want to be heard and explained": Cécile Bass is reportedly barred from sitting on the La Seyne municipal council

A new twist awaits the election of the future mayor of La Seyne, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. While Cécile Bass was due to join the municipal council following the compulsory resignation of Nathalie Bicais, she learned Thursday that her administrative situation would be "incompatible" with this vacant seat. This would then go to Pierre Garcin.
"I received an email from the municipality asking me if I would agree to join the council, as the next on the list. I naturally accepted and immediately resigned from my position as a municipal employee," explains Cécile Bass. "But yesterday (Thursday) I went to pick up a registered letter from the Post Office, in which I was asked to return to my department, as my situation was deemed incompatible with sitting on the council." This Friday morning, the former canteen worker went to the prefecture to try to find out the reasons for this about-face, but was unable to be seen without an appointment (1). "I would just like to be heard and have an explanation," laments Cécile Bass.
While the municipality assures that it is "in contact with the prefecture" and "acting in complete legality" , Jean-Pierre Colin, the likely candidate against Jo Minniti, is outraged: "Cécile Bass is being excluded from her right to sit on the municipal council without any clear basis," he assures. "She formally submitted her resignation from her position as a contract agent, in accordance with the law. This decision was notified to the interim mayor as well as to the prefect. Despite this, the general management of services seems to favor the installation of Pierre Garcin, a former political collaborator of Ms. Bicais, without this substitution being based on a transparent legal justification. This type of maneuver raises serious questions about compliance with the legal framework and the impartiality of municipal services."
