Rhône. Harvests in Beaujolais: we followed the maturation network in Régnié-Durette
But actually: how is the harvest date decided? And what is the "matu" network? To best answer these questions, Le Progrès was able to follow a winemaker from Régnié-Durette for a morning as part of the maturation network, in preparation for this pivotal period for the Beaujolais vineyard.

They're fast approaching, but it's not yet harvest time for Yves Durand. Like every Monday and Thursday morning since the beginning of August, the winegrower climbs into his truck, equipped with his buckets numbered with white markers.
At the helm of the Ponchon estate, he guides us through one of his plots. The goal? To collect around twenty bunches of grapes to conduct tests as part of the Beaujolais ripening network. "Each plot has a number so we don't get mixed up.
