Air Canada: Flight Resumption Finally Cancelled, Flight Attendants' Strike Continues

Like a false hope. Air Canada announced Sunday that it was suspending the resumption of flights announced earlier in the day , due to the ongoing strike by its flight attendants.
Air Canada "has suspended its plan to partially resume flights (...) after the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) illegally ordered its flight attendants to disobey a directive from the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to return to work," Canada's largest airline said on its website .
"All Air Canada flights operated by Air Canada Rouge ( Air Canada's low-cost subsidiary ) are therefore cancelled until further notice ," the company continued.
The CIRB, seized by the government, had "ordered Air Canada to resume its operations and all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flight attendants to return to their duties before 2 p.m. (8 p.m. in Paris) on August 17, 2025," Air Canada said earlier in a press release.
The airline then planned a gradual resumption of its flights from Sunday evening, warning that it would take several days before its activity returned to normal.
In addition to wage increases, CUPE's demands concern unpaid ground work, particularly during boarding.
