Videos. Cannes Film Festival: What are the official release dates for the 2025 awards?

Over the course of two weeks, several films were screened for the first time on the big screen. But official releases are sometimes delayed, to later in the year, or even to 2026. This includes award-winning films, whose accolades sometimes prompt distributors to bring forward the official release date.
Here is the calendar to remember for all the films awarded at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
“A Simple Accident”, Palme d’OrThe world premiere of the Iranian film "A Simple Accident" took place at the festival. A national release in France is scheduled for September 10, 2025, by distributor Memento.
In Norway, a filmmaker father attempts to reconnect and reconcile his two daughters after their mother's death. Expected release date: August 20, 2025.
“Sirat”, jury prizeThe epic tale of a father (Sergi Lopez) and his son, in search of their eldest daughter who disappeared at a desert rave: this film produced by the Almodovar brothers, is scheduled to be released in France from September 3, 2025.
"In die Sonne schauen" in its original language is a German film that premiered on May 14th at the Cannes Film Festival. It will be released in September in Germany, but no release date has been announced for France.
We'll have to be particularly patient with "The Secret Agent": this Brazilian political thriller, which won the International Critics' Prize, is scheduled for release in France on January 14, 2026. This date could be brought forward.
"The Youngest", Best Actress AwardWith the Best Actress Award going to French actress Nadia Melliti and the Queer Palm, Hafsia Herzi's film is expected to be released in all French cinemas on October 1st.
The science fiction crime film by Chinese director Bi Gan was screened on May 22 during the festival, but the official release date in France is currently unknown.
“Young Mothers,” best screenplay awardThis film by the Dardenne brothers also won the Positive Cinema Award and the Ecoprod Award. It was officially released in Cannes and elsewhere in France on May 23.
