When do winter vacations start in 2025? Deals, prices, and top destinations

There is just over a month left for the 2025 winter holidays , which for the City and Province of Buenos Aires begin on July 21 (Friday 18, last day of classes before the break) and end on August 1 (Monday August 4, everyone back to school), as well as in the provinces of Chaco and Santiago del Estero.
It should be noted that there are provinces that begin their vacations on July 7 , such as Chubut, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, La Rioja, Mendoza, Neuquén, Río Negro, San Juan, San Luis, Tucumán and Santa Fe. While another group begins on July 14 : Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz, Salta, Misiones, La Pampa, Jujuy, Formosa, Corrientes and Catamarca.
Among those who decide to travel during this time, there is a mix: those who have already planned their vacations months in advance—especially to find good prices—those who are planning for the next few days, and those who will wait closer to the date or decide to take a short, nearby getaway depending on their current budget.
"We identified two distinct early winter holiday shopping periods . The first occurred a few weeks before the end of March, seeking to avoid potential dollar volatility amid rumors of the end of the currency controls. The second was Hot Sale shopping, where international flights took a significant hold," explains Guido Boutet, Marketing Manager at Travel Services.
He also clarifies that it's important to consider that local destinations are purchased with less advance notice and that there's a local commitment to maintaining last year's prices or increasing them as little as possible.
This was evident a few days ago when Bariloche launched "Bariloche Sale," offering frozen rates on ski passes to Cerro Catedral and other ski resorts, as well as discounts of up to 40% on accommodation and dining , to take advantage of during the winter season and until the end of September.

There are also interesting international offers to consider, such as the Flash Sale from Club Med, an all-inclusive chain offering a 35% discount until June 20 at its three resorts in Brazil and at Caribbean resorts such as Punta Cana, Miches, and Turks and Caicos. The sale is valid for travel through December 2025.
At the Despegar agency, they also highlight the phenomenon of early booking , as a "strategy to access better prices, availability, and financing options," says Alejandro Festa, manager of Lodging and Tourism Services, and highlights that both the website and the app have a section dedicated to winter vacations where products, benefits, and promotions are updated.
For a week now, they have seen an 80% increase in searches for travel in the last two weeks of July , compared to previous weeks.

"A sleeping crocodile is a wallet," says Matías Mute, Air Promotions, regarding the importance of planning your purchase early , especially during peak season. And July, it's worth remembering, is peak season everywhere: here for the winter holidays and in the northern hemisphere, for the summer.
In both domestic and international destinations, there are classics that tend to make it to the top of the list year after year . Closer to the date, many other, closer-to-home destinations are added to these lists, which require less advance notice and are usually reached by car.

Among the most sought-after international destinations on Travel Services are Rio de Janeiro and Buzios in Brazil, Miami, and Cancun and Punta Cana in the Caribbean.
At Despegar, they've noticed a particular and growing interest in Buzios , which ranks prominently in their package offerings. The reasons? Possibly its peaceful beaches and good weather make it an attractive option for relaxing without traveling too far.
At the national level, Travel Services highlights that searches are led by Iguazú, Bariloche, El Calafate and Ushuaia .

"Bariloche is the clear leader in vacation preferences : one in four people planning a trip for those dates chose it as their destination," says Festa de Despegar, adding that it is followed in the ranking by Iguazú, Salta, Ushuaia, and Mendoza , with average stays of 5 days .
From Promociones Aérea, Matías Mute highlights several options, such as Arraial do Cabo, in Brazil , "the new surprise for its low prices," Aruba , as "an emerging star in 2025, with very good flight deals" (a few days ago it showed a flight offer from US$ 529), and San Andrés , in Colombia, although "it is a very fluctuating destination." Another option he found with good prices was Rio de Janeiro, starting at US$ 229.
Budgets vary greatly depending on the products and services each family chooses, the number of days they stay, the type of accommodation, whether they travel by car or plane, whether they choose to eat at restaurants or cook, and many other factors.
