Traveling as a couple? Despegar and Booking.com share ideal options in Colombia to celebrate love.
Couples' travel is one of the most popular in Colombia, whether to celebrate an anniversary, a wedding, or a honeymoon. Several destinations have established themselves in this segment. While some people are simply looking for relaxation, others choose places that offer adventure, wellness, and nature activities.
Pablo Jaitman, Country Manager of Despegar Colombia, noted that so far in 2025, the company has seen an increase in interest in alternative destinations within the country. For example, Montería has seen a 26 percent increase in searches, Barranquilla 18 percent, Armenia 9 percent, Bucaramanga 6 percent, and Riohacha 3 percent.

Considering the diversity of traveler profiles, Booking.com presented a selection of domestic destinations for honeymoon planning.

- Adventurous couples. For those who love adventure and extreme attractions, San Gil (Santander) is a good option, where you can go rafting on the Fonce River, paraglide over the Chicamocha Canyon, explore underground caves, or rappel down waterfalls.
- Foodie couples. Villa de Leyva has established itself as a culinary destination in Boyacá. From breakfasts with artisan bread and arepas from Boyacá to lunches with signature dishes featuring local ingredients like creole potatoes, goat cheese, and quinoa, this town offers culinary experiences for all tastes. Other options include vineyard visits, cheese and wine tastings, cooking classes, and tours of organic markets.
- Sustainable couples. According to Booking.com's latest Sustainable Travel study, traveling sustainably is important to 84 percent of the global travel community. In Minca, couples can connect with nature while hiking through the mountains, visiting organic cocoa or coffee farms, participating in permaculture workshops, and enjoying massages with natural products.
- Rumba couples. If you prefer a good party, Cartagena is a city that offers perfect plans: tours of the historic center, cocktails on terraces overlooking the sea, and dancing champeta until dawn. Another option is Medellín, whose nightlife includes hidden bars in Provenza, as well as clubs for reggaeton and electronic music lovers.
- Zen couples. If you're looking to completely disconnect from the chaos of the city and relax surrounded by nature, Bahía Solano, located between the Chocó rainforest and the Pacific Ocean, is an excellent option. With oceanfront yoga sessions, jungle hikes to hidden waterfalls, and swims at beaches like El Almejar and afternoons of socializing, you'll leave this destination refreshed. From July to October, you can go whale watching, and some hotels offer responsible experiences that foster the region's biodiversity, such as turtle releases.

- Montería. It's a destination that surprises with its natural charm and culture. There, you can visit Parque de la Vida or Parque Natural Paramillo, a paradise for ecotourism lovers. You can take a sunset boat ride on the Sinú River, while at Montería Cathedral and the Cultural Plaza, you'll learn about the region's history and traditions. It's also ideal for birdwatching, cycling, and hiking.
- Barranquilla is a Caribbean destination that offers a blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. Just a few miles away, the beaches of Puerto Colombia, such as Pradomar and Salgar, are ideal for sunbathing and water sports. In the city, the Magdalena River Boardwalk and the Caribbean Cultural Park offer unique experiences. The nightlife is lively, with tropical music and local cuisine.
- Armenia. Located in the heart of the Coffee Region, this city offers mountainous landscapes and a rich coffee culture. Visit farms to learn about coffee cultivation and enjoy tastings. The Coffee Park combines exciting attractions with cultural performances. Explore the Quindío Botanical Garden and the Butterfly Farm to learn about the local biodiversity. Traditional architecture and local markets enrich the cultural experience, offering regional cuisine. Armenia is also the gateway to the Cocora Valley, home to the wax palms.
- Bucaramanga. Known as the "City of Parks," it offers a vibrant, nature-filled atmosphere. Its parks, such as Parque del Agua and Parque García Rovira, are perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The city is a cultural center with museums and theaters that highlight the rich local history and art.
- Riohacha. The gateway to La Guajira offers a unique blend of culture, nature, and adventure. Explore the Malecón, where you'll enjoy panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The city is the heart of the Wayuu culture, where you can visit local markets to admire and purchase handicrafts, such as backpacks and hammocks. For nature lovers, a trip to Punta Gallinas, the northernmost point in South America, is a must. Here, the Taroa dunes meet the sea, creating a spectacular landscape.
