This is the town in Malaga that also celebrates American Independence Day.

The Fourth of July is a date marked in gold letters on the calendar for citizens of the United States. It is the day on which Independence Day is celebrated, along with Thanksgiving, the two most important holidays for Americans.
A day celebrated not only in the United States, as it is very common for American citizens living abroad to celebrate it wherever they are. But beyond these individual and private celebrations, there are two towns in the province of Málaga for which the Fourth of July is a very special day, and this is because they are the birthplace of a historical figure who played a very important role in the process of American independence.
The city councils of Benalmádena and Macharaviaya, Malaga, are once again promoting the Independence Day parade this year, an event held in tribute to Bernardo de Gálvez, a hero of the American independence movement and a historical figure born in Macharaviaya. A truly unique proposal, which also comes at a time when Benalmádena is a veritable hub of activity and visitors, drawn by the sun and beach tourism that the Malaga town offers.
The festive day begins at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 4th, at the Benalmádena Cultural Center. From this point, the parade will depart, led by two flag bearers, one Spanish and one American , with the aim of symbolizing the union between the two peoples. The parade is striking in its color and variety, with around 100 people participating, including the grenadiers and the so-called "Ladies of Gálvez," who will wear striking period costumes.

After this parade, which brings the event's more institutional dimension to life, the party moves to the surroundings of El Bil Bil Castle . A real party will be hosted by Bobbie B and will feature, of course, traditional American food and drinks at affordable prices, as well as live music throughout the afternoon and evening. One of the bands attendees will be Mama Catn and The Soul Sisters.
"It is an honor for Benalmádena to host this event, which highlights our shared history with the United States through the figure of Bernardo de Gálvez , and strengthens cultural ties between our towns," emphasized Mayor Juan Antonio Lara. This festival has been celebrated in this part of the province of Málaga since 2009, and has thus become increasingly popular over the past few years.

It's important to note that the figure of Bernardo de Gálvez, who underlies this holiday, was officially recognized by the United States Congress in 2014 with the title of Honorary Citizen of the United States of America. This is therefore a very original and unique way to celebrate American Independence Day in Málaga.
