Venados de Tercera team reaches another final in the Copa Promesas: they eliminate Chivas Sub-17 in Tamanché

Deportiva Venados has another chapter to write in its history playing in the Third Division Professional League. After a hard-fought battle against the Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara U-17 team, the Venados emerged victorious with a 2-0 win in a do-or-die match, qualifying for the grand final of the Copa Promesas, a tournament between Third Division teams and the reserve teams of the main Liga MX organizations.
The final will be played next Thursday, November 6th, in Toluca, at the Mexican Football Federation's High Performance Center. The opponent will be either Tigres Álica or Datileros de San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
The Chivas team, represented by former national team player Alberto Coyote, put up a fight, but their momentum was short-lived, and they spent more time defending and looking for counter-attacks. The iconic striped jersey of the Chivas team commands respect and drew a good number of fans to the "Alonso Diego Molina" Stadium in Tamanché.
The match was very tight, despite the Venados' persistent efforts, who never stopped fighting. A masterful brace from Jonathan Ciprián put Deportiva Venados into the final. The striker showed his composure by converting the penalty for the 1-0 lead, and his courage in taking the ball in the box sent the crowd into a frenzy.
With the refereeing always biased, the Venados played at risk of any penalty. Thus, the game was more than just hard-fought. Deportiva Venados imposed their will after 85 goalless minutes. Ciprián became the hero of the bulls by scoring a penalty in the 86th minute, and then another, the icing on the cake, with magic and dribbling, in stoppage time.
