"The Ministry of Security of the Province of Buenos Aires, through the Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sports (APreViDe), informs that for tonight's match between Racing and Flamengo for the Copa Libertadores, the use of pyrotechnic material, such as flares, smoke bombs, and fireworks, is absolutely prohibited inside the stadium (including stands, corridors, or any other public area)," they stated.
The threat also included the potential sanction that would befall the Avellaneda team. "Should the use of these items at the event be confirmed, Racing Club will have to face the consequences of this infraction and the corresponding sanctions, in accordance with the powers of this Agency and the Sports Law. APREVIDE and the Avellaneda Departmental Police Headquarters have involved the justice system, initiating a preliminary criminal investigation before the 4th Prosecutor's Office of Avellaneda, headed by Prosecutor Mariano Zitto," they concluded.
