Oracle 'activates' its new multi-billion dollar cloud region in Madrid

The technology company Oracle announced on Thursday the launch of its third cloud region in Spain, located in Madrid. This cluster of data centers is designed to meet the growing demand for cloud services from businesses across the country. Albert Triola, General Manager of Oracle Spain, explained to the media that these new facilities will strengthen Oracle's AI service portfolio in Spain. Furthermore, this infrastructure, deployed in a Telefónica Tier 3+ data center, will launch from day one with a large number of Nvidia's latest-generation GPGPUs. As the technology giant announced in the summer of 2024 , Oracle's new cloud region will mobilize an investment of one billion dollars (932 million euros) over the next ten years.
At an event held in the heart of Madrid, top executives from Oracle Spain presented their integrated AI offering, covering the three fundamental technology layers: AI in infrastructure, AI in data management, and AI in applications. During the event, Albert Triola, Managing Director of Oracle Spain, stated, "AI is changing everything: the way companies operate, the way business is conducted, and the lives of citizens. Our integrated AI services offering already covers the infrastructure layer, the data layer, and the application layer. We believe that only in this way can we help customers get the most out of AI and transform their businesses."

The same executive also explained the main announcements made by the corporation at its Oracle AI World global customer event in Las Vegas, highlighting the different products in each service area. At the infrastructure layer, the operator offers the AI Data Platform, a comprehensive platform designed to help organizations accelerate their artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives using secure, connected, and unified data. This infrastructure "simplifies and automates the entire data lifecycle for AI, from ingestion to preparation, enrichment, and analysis, providing everything needed to build, deploy, and scale enterprise-grade AI applications." The OCI Dedicated Region 25 offers a "solution that delivers Oracle's more than 200 AI and cloud services directly to the customer's data center, with a minimal physical footprint, multi-layered security, full public cloud parity, and support for local sovereignty and regulation."
In the data business, the standout product is AI Database 26ai, with native AI capabilities, enhanced data protection, and advanced vector search, available in multicloud and on-premises environments; as well as Oracle Multicloud Universal Credits, a flexible consumption model that allows customers to use credits on Oracle Database and OCI services across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.
Regarding applications, Oracle is launching a new AI Agent Marketplace that allows customers to discover, test, and deploy validated AI agents built by partners directly into existing workflows. More than 15 independent systems integrators and software vendors are contributing agents that address industry-specific challenges. Oracle is also offering new, pre-built, integrated AI Agents for finance, supply chain, human resources, and customer experience processes, including capabilities such as financial anomaly detection, procurement optimization, supply chain planning, recruitment improvement, and talent development.
