Caterwest: An example of a local supplier with international standing

The mining services company founded in Calingasta more than 30 years ago began its connection with the mining industry through its deep knowledge of the San Juan mountain range . “We traveled through the mountain range because it was the back of our home, and that hobby gradually became a job. We began transporting geologists to remote areas on our mules, and then we started setting up camps , taking care of food and maintenance , and that's how we formed this company that today has been ensuring operations in the most remote locations for more than 30 years with the highest standards demanded by the mining industry ,” recalled Martín Ossa , CEO of Caterwest .

Currently, with the installed capacity to provide outsourcing services for industries such as mining , infrastructure , and solar energy , the company recently joined the United Nations Global Compact thanks to the intensive work it has been carrying out for years in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in all its properties and camps where it provides services.

At the beginning of 2025, the traditional San Juan company again certified the International HACCP Standards at its Operations Center located in the Pocito department. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a preventive management system that allows the identification, evaluation, and control of physical, chemical, and biological hazards associated with food at all stages of the production process .

It is worth noting that, in 2012, Caterwest was the first Argentine company to obtain HACCP certification for Remote Sites , essential for the mining industry , where thousands of workers live together in high mountain camps .
