You can now enjoy one of the most anticipated pools for Madrid residents: prices at 2.25 euros, surrounded by nature and with a modern picnic area.

One of Madrid's most popular municipal swimming pools is back after a long period of renovations . Prices starting at €2.25 per adult, its natural surroundings, and the presence of a modern picnic area have made this facility one of the most talked-about summer pools in the capital. After more than a year of renovations, its opening is a welcome relief for thousands of residents , especially on hot days. This is the pool at the Peñuelas Municipal Sports Center , located in the Arganzuela district , which has been open again since this past Saturday, July 19th.

With an investment of 6.3 million euros, the renovation has been comprehensive: the three previous basins were demolished due to leaks, and new ones were built , surrounded by accessible galleries that improve watertightness control and house completely renovated purification systems. The bathing areas, the exterior walls bordering Arganda and Gargantilla streets, and the changing rooms have also been updated, making the facility practically a new construction. In addition to the technical improvements, visitors can relax in a large, newly planted natural grass meadow , which enhances the facility's green surroundings and improves the rest and shade experience during the hottest hours.

Flexible hours and affordable rates

The facility will operate with three daily shifts: morning (10:00–15:00), afternoon (16:00–21:00), and full-day (10:00–21:00). For the latter, an identification bracelet is provided to allow access control. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, online, or through the Madrid Móvil app. Regarding prices, adults will pay €2.25 for a part-time shift and €4.50 for a full shift; while those over 65 enjoy reduced rates starting from €0.70, and children under five enter free.

The Peñuelas pool serves approximately 290,000 residents of Arganzuela and Centro, making it one of the largest municipal facilities in the summer pool network. With its opening, all 25 outdoor pools in Madrid are now open until September 7. This year, new features have also been introduced, such as free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshops and dynamic entrances that allow access to be released in real time when a user leaves the facility. All of this is intended to optimize capacity and facilitate the enjoyment of this newly renovated space.
