Santiago Cafiero defended Axel Kicillof's decision to launch the "Right to the Future Movement"

National deputy Santiago Cafiero supported the recent decision of the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof , to launch the "Right to the Future Movement." According to Cafiero , this initiative represents "a broad call" and responds to the "historic moment" that Peronism is going through after the electoral defeat of 2023.
During an interview with Radio Splendid , Cafiero highlighted that Kicillof is the first Peronist leader who seeks to rebuild hope in a political alternative to the current Government . "After the defeat of 2023, Kicillof is the first leader who calls for a broad space to rebuild the hope that there are political alternatives to this Government of swindlers," said the legislator.
Last Saturday, Kicillof presented his internal space within Peronism through a document that had the support of some 40 mayors of Buenos Aires, national and provincial legislators, as well as the CGT , the two CTAs and a broad sector of leaders and groups. The initiative generated repercussions within the political space and opened the debate on the direction of Peronism.
Cafiero differentiated Kicillof 's strategy from that of former President Cristina Kirchner . According to the deputy, while the governor seeks to broaden the support base of Peronism, the former president opts to strengthen a "hard line" and address the sectors that are already convinced. "I don't think that is the way," said Cafiero .
The legislator stressed the importance of an internal debate within Peronism based on the construction of projects and not on the disqualification of leaders. "These are two very clear strategies, which I hope will be expressed in a political debate and not in disqualifying the other. We must commit to building projects and alternatives that reconfigure a hope that the Peronist people do not have today," he emphasized.
For Cafiero , Kicillof 's strategy is the most appropriate because it understands the current political context. "Right-wing parties are defeated all over the world with the ability to reach agreements and coalitions, as Lula Da Silva did in Brazil to defeat Jair Bolsonaro," argued the former Chief of Staff.
The deputy also analyzed the difficulties that Peronism has faced in recent years, especially during the management of the pandemic and the coalition experience in the Frente de Todos . "Peronism is now debating with other rules, not with those that occurred during the last Government, which was a permanent internal debate in the open. There was only talk of political protagonism, not of programs," concluded Cafiero .
Kicillof 's decision to promote this new space within Peronism continues to generate repercussions and opens a new chapter in the reconfiguration of the movement. Meanwhile, the internal debate continues and the future of Peronism will depend on how its different sectors are structured in the face of the upcoming electoral challenges.
Embrace the people and ignite hope. Right to the future movement.
