Younger fans probably don't know this, of course, but before Robert Pattinson, Christian Bale, and Michael Keaton raced through the skyscrapers of Gotham City, the character of Batman was played by Adam West in the 1960s series. The series was so successful, and West so enthusiastic about his role, that he toured international events in the 1970s with a detailed replica of the TV Batmobile. The Batmobile replica was based on a 1973 Lincoln Continental. The car features many of the original's features, including leather seats and a futuristic design (or rather, the design that was considered futuristic in the 1970s). The vehicle was on display at, among other places, the London Motor Museum; today it is privately owned near Florence, Italy. But not for much longer! Adam West's Batmobile is now being auctioned on Catawiki , the online marketplace for special objects. The car, valued at €80,000, is in driving condition and has been recently serviced. It features an original 7.5-liter V8 engine and a three-speed automatic transmission. The underbody is in intact condition, showing only slight surface oxidation. The interior is also well preserved. Bids can be submitted on catawiki.com until August 24th.

Kylie Kristen Jenner , born on August 10, 1997 in Calabasas, California, is known for turning everything she touches into gold. Her company Kylie Cosmetics is one of the reasons why the Kardashian scion ranks 52nd on Forbes ' list of "America's Richest Self-Made Women" this year, with an estimated net worth of around $670 million. To be fair, though, the money doesn't always flow from all over the world to Kylie in California. It sometimes also flows via Kylie to Berlin, where the label Ioannes , founded by Johannes Boehl Cronau in Paris in 2019, has been based since 2021, and its first collection has already made it into Net-a-porter's range. He recently showed his collection at Berlin Fashion Week. And now Kylie Jenner has just been spotted in one of his complete runway looks. Firstly, it didn't cost America's fifty-second richest self-made woman all that much. Secondly, we fashion checkers know that Boehl Cronau has already created a collection with Jenner's fashion label Khy, which has since been selling extremely successfully in LA. But the photos of Kylie in Ioannes are still worth their weight in gold. Berlin says thank you. ( ioannes.eu )

Dirndl from Bavaria
(Photo: Annina)

A dirndl from Notting Hill might sound like a world away, even though every year the Brits clearly make up the third-largest group of tourists in the Oktoberfest tents. But designer Annina Bruges von Pfuel, who opened her first London store a good year ago (at a prime address: Clarendon Cross, Holland Park), is an Englishwoman by choice; her home is, fittingly, in southern Germany. Or, as the Annina brand website puts it, "rooted in the heart of Bavaria." And what else could this beautiful phrase mean for a trained costume designer who has launched her own fashion label than: traditional costume. One almost gets the impression that, far from Bavarian origins, customs and traditions can be truly savored. The Munich-based designer has had the store furnished with painted chests and small-patterned upholstered furniture à la Biedermeier. And the dirndls draw on the full repertoire, with smocked bodices, puff sleeves, and summery checks, always with a slight retro touch and occasional forays into other textile worlds, such as French Toile de Jouy fabrics. There are also studded belts or waist-length knit "Wiesn Janker" jackets. If that whets your appetite, there are still a good 30 days until Oktoberfest ( annina.com , also available at the Apropos store in Rottach-Egern).
