In a post-hoc analysis of the TIME-CHF study, reducing the dose of loop diuretics in heart failure was associated with a significant increased risk – albeit in predominantly highly symptomatic patients. The results need to be verified using prospective data. The study group now calls for more intensive monitoring after dose reduction.
