The Consortium for the Promotion and Protection of Piadina Romagnola PGI was created to promote and enhance Piadina Romagnola (also called Piada Romagnola) and the variant of Piadina or Piada Romagnola alla Riminese (Rimini-style flatbread), and to enforce the regulations and reference text for the production of Piadina according to the traditional recipe. The Consortium's efforts led to the recognition of the Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) on 24 October 2014. The Consortium currently includes 12 companies in the Romagna region of different sizes and from the artisanal, industrial and kiosk sectors. For these companies, the Consortium acts as an intermediary and representative.
