EU Commission plans postponement: Supply Chain Act on the verge of collapse?

The EU Commission wants to postpone the application of the controversial European supply chain law and amend the plan. The first implementation deadlines are to be postponed by one year to 2028, the Commission announced. In addition, a number of simplifications are intended to ease the burden on companies. The Commission speaks of savings of 320 million euros annually.
The supply chain law was only passed last year. EU states should actually have a good two years to implement the new rules into national law. The aim of the project is to strengthen human rights worldwide. Large companies should be able to be held accountable if they profit from human rights violations such as child or forced labor.
However, the plan has been heavily criticized by the business community. Companies see it as excessive requirements that impose huge bureaucratic burdens on them and reduce Europe's competitiveness. The changes also require a majority among the EU states and in the European Parliament.
