Gender pay gap: AI finds women earn less

It has long been known that artificial intelligence harbors the same prejudices as humans. Now, a research team from Bremen, Kassel, and Würzburg has discovered that its recommendations for salary negotiations are also not objective. In several identical scenarios, the scientists asked language models like ChatGPT and Claude for salary advice—sometimes for women and men, sometimes for Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, and whites, and sometimes for expatriates, migrants, and refugees.
