Travel Insurers: Sales Are Up As Political Uncertainty Persists

Political and economic storms make people more cautious with their money. For travelers, that means spending a little extra to protect trips they've already paid for.

Immigration issues, stock market instability, and economic uncertainty — it’s enough to make travelers weary of experiencing a trip disruption and losing their money.

That’s what Angus McDonald, CEO of travel insurer Cover Genius, suspects is behind a 20% spike in sales from February to March.

“Whenever we see big macro effects, then we see consumers generally feel like they need to protect from the risk that they're being exposed to,” said Angus McDonald, CEO and co-founder of Cover Genius, in an interview with Skift.
