Here’s Why Hotel Prices in Mumbai Are Surging

Accommodation searches for November 19 among Indian travelers is 110% more than two weeks before that date, according to online travel company Agoda. On November 16, the search for hotels in the city is 20% more than two weeks prior and on October 29 and 30 the city recorded a 160% increase in accommodation searches.
What is this surge coinciding with? Concerts of international musicians: Travis Scott on November 19, Akon on November 16, and Enrique Iglesias on October 29 and 30.
“The data shows a clear link between major concert announcements and travel interest, pointing to a healthy future for music-led tourism in the city,” said Gaurav Malik, country director for the Indian Subcontinent and Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda.
Hotel Prices Up: Iglesias’ concerts have also driven up hotel rates in Mumbai. The rates for hotels near MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex have more than doubled, according to prices listed on Booking.com.
