Chalet Hotels’ Incoming CEO on Why the Group Won’t ‘Tinker’ With Its DNA

Luxury hotel developer Chalet Hotels’ leadership may be changing, but its core DNA is not.
The company is preparing for a new head, as current executive director Shwetank Singh is set to take over as CEO and managing director next February.
“My job will be to ensure that we do not tinker too much with our core DNA because it has worked for us. It has shown results and it will continue to show results,” Singh told Skift. “People get too caught up in what is changing…I don’t think we need to change anything drastically,” he added.
Fundamentally nothing changes at Chalet, Singh said.
But that does not mean that the company is not growing or diversifying. Chalet has historically been an asset developer which then signed management contracts with hotel chains. Chalet’s portfolio includes eight Marriott International hotels, and according to Singh, these eight hotels account for 20% of the fees Marriott earns out of
skift.
