Polish Waters has established cooperation with the military. An agreement has been signed.

As we read in a press release from Wody Polskie, an important element of joint activities will be employee training and the implementation of modern technological solutions to improve security in the digital space.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Mateusz Balcerowicz, President of the State Water Management Company Wody Polskie, and Major General Karol Molenda, Commander of the Cyberspace Defense Forces Component. The event was attended by Jacek Jarząbek, Deputy President of Wody Polskie for Economic and Organizational Affairs, who is responsible for IT and digitization at Wody Polskie.
"The establishment of cooperation between the Polish Waters and the Cyberspace Defense Forces is a significant step towards building a resilient digital ecosystem in public administration. Thanks to this agreement, we are not only strengthening our shared IT security but also systematically improving the competences of specialists responsible for key IT areas," said President Mateusz Balcerowicz.
"Effective defense against cyber threats requires not only specialized skills and technologies, but also cooperation. The agreement signed today will allow us to build a partnership that includes incident management support, information exchange on cyber threats, and ensuring rapid operational communication," emphasized Maj. Gen. Karol Molenda.
"We are prepared to cooperate in the area of cybersecurity because we see real value in the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience in improving the security of our systems and users. This is another initiative undertaken by Wody Polskie as part of its consistently implemented strategy to strengthen digital resilience – particularly important in the face of growing threats in the virtual space," added Jacek Jarząbek.
The scope of cooperation is the exchange of information and experiencesCooperation between the Polish Waters and the Cyberspace Defense Forces will focus on several key areas. First, joint tasks will include the exchange of information on cybersecurity, particularly in the analysis of cyber threats.
Another area will be the exchange of experiences and knowledge regarding cybersecurity techniques and solutions. This initiative will include organizing training sessions for IT employees to enhance their practical cybersecurity skills, as well as jointly developing best practices, procedures, and action plans. The parties will exchange recommendations and consult on cybersecurity-related matters.
Polish Waters and the Cyberspace Defense Force will also cooperate in handling cybersecurity incidents . Joint incident response exercises and advanced analytical activities are planned. The common goal is to counter cyber threats and mitigate their impact.
The parties will also exchange information and experiences in the field of cybersecurity of used products, services and solutions, including information on detected and identified vulnerabilities, methods of counteracting the exploitation of vulnerabilities and recommended secure configuration.
Additionally, the agreement will assess the level of resilience to cyber threats, with the possibility of conducting penetration tests for Polish Waters. Finally, Polish Waters and the Cyberspace Defense Forces will ensure rapid operational communication to defend against cyber threats.
At the end of last year, Polish Waters established cooperation with the Central Information Technology Centre in order to benefit from the knowledge and experience of this institution in the field of cybersecurity.
Collaboration with the Central Information Society (COI) is particularly important in the context of crisis management and the development of advanced security systems. It is also a step towards increasing the protection of key digital services and IT infrastructure.
As part of the cooperation, the COI shares good practices related to, among other things, the construction and operation of a Security Operation Center (SOC), a specialized operations center responsible for monitoring and quickly responding to security incidents.
The agreement is part of the activities related to the entry into force of the NIS2 directive, which imposes additional obligations in the field of IT security management.
The provisions of the directive require increased protection of key digital services and IT infrastructure and the introduction of advanced mechanisms for monitoring and responding to cyber threats.
It is also part of a broader project implemented by the Central Information Technology Center (COI) called "Data Coalition." This program promotes the integration and secure, controlled exchange of data between key entities and public institutions.
