Politics LIVE: Nigel Farage breaks silence after Zia Yusuf's shock return
Nigel Farage will put the squabbles of last week behind him today as he seeks to set Reform UK on course to win the Welsh elections next year. He will deliver a speech at Port Talbort this lunchtime as he announces the launch of his long campaign to win the Senedd in 2026.
Farage will promise that a Reform government in Wales will ensure locals get social housing before migrants, meaning that a Reform government in Cardiff will ensure that Welshmen and women go to the front of the queue for social housing.
The Express can reveal Reform will also scrap Wales’ ‘nation of sanctuary status’, a core immigration plan of the current Labour administration that actively helps asylum seekers secure “good quality accommodation” in a country riven with an existing housing crisis.
The sanctuary status also obliges the government to provide access to English speaking classes, something Reform is already looking at cutting at English council level in order to save taxpayers’ cash.
It will be the first time Nigel Farage speaks publicly since the 48-hour resignation-and-return of Zia Yusuf to Reform.
