Tilda Swinton Might Not Have Been the Best Choice as the Face of the Tom Ford Black Orchid Reserve Fragrance

We genuinely do not know where you’ve been if you didn’t already know that Haider Ackermann is creative director of Tom Ford. Ackermann picked up from where Peter Hawkings left off, less than twelve months after unveiling his debut collection. Back in March, during Paris Fashion Week, Ackermann presented his highly anticipated first collection at the helm of the luxurious label. The celebrated Colombian-born French designer continues to put his stamp on Tom Ford, enlisting Tilda Swinton as the face and embodiment of the Tom Ford Black Orchid Reserve fragrance and stars in the campaign. The British Oscar-winning actress (and long-time friend and muse of Haider) is placed before the lens of the photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin for the occasion.

“I love Tilda Swinton and she looks good here, but I don’t think it’s a match. Her look is reminiscent of the new designer’s debut show, which was used on the models, but that’s it. There are plenty of models who would kill for these opportunities, and do a better job for LESS,” voiced DK92.

“So many things wrong with this image… and so cold,” stressed forum member GivenchyAddict.

Frederic01 wasn’t best impressed either. “The color grading is off to me and she looks like she is perspiring from post-work out? This is not good,” they declared.

“Not sure Tilda’s edgy typology of beauty is a great match for Tom Ford Beauty,” shared Thefrenchy.

“The image itself is very strong, commanding and visually-arresting. However, it’s not sultry and sexy enough for a Tom Ford campaign,” vogue28 critiqued.
