The Russian State Media Is Laughing Its Ass off at Trump’s Temper Tantrum
The president is mad. Big mad. Very big mad. He’s mad as hell and not going to take some of this for very much longer. Don’t make him pull this country over. From The Washington Post:
In perhaps his harshest rhetoric yet against Putin, Trump declared that Putin is “playing with fire”—a reference to Russia’s escalating bombardment of Ukraine in recent days despite the U.S. president’s efforts to broker a peace agreement between Kyiv and Moscow. Trump has offered mixed messages about Putin, oscillating between praise of a leader with whom he has said he believes he can do business and frustration about his inability to bring Russia to the bargaining table.“What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!” Trump posted on Truth Social. The post followed Trump’s suggestion Sunday that he might be open to sanctions against Russia, a significant shift after months in which he had been so cautious about pressuring Putin that he even exempted the country from tariffs that he imposed on most of the rest of the world.
The Russian state media is finding all of this just too hilarious. This is an X post from RT:
President Trump warns Moscow, claiming Russia avoided ‘REALLY BAD’ consequences only thanks to him ‘Putin doesn’t realize … he’s playing with fire!’—Trump’s message leaves little room for misinterpretationUntil he posts the opposite tomorrow morning.
And this is a response from a Russian government spokesman, courtesy of Reuters, via the Hill, treating President Macho Man as though he were a 1950s hausfrau trying to organize a Ban the Bomb rally:
“We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organizing and launching this negotiation process,” said Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov when asked about Trump’s remarks, “Of course, at the same time, this is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions.”
They all laugh at his mighty sword. Why do they laugh at his mighty sword?
Let’s play along for a moment. If the president drops the sanctions bomb, then Putin does what? Keeps ignoring him? Drops a kompromat bomb? It may be entertaining to speculate. Meanwhile, Putin continues making the rubble dance and slaughtering civilians by the bushel in Ukraine. All our president cares about is how it’s queering the pitch for the Nobel Peace Prize he’s already awarded himself in his head. Very big mad, the president is.
