Sabrina Carpenter Has a Quick Shave as Interview Magazine’s September 2025 Cover Girl

Interview might not command the attention it once did during the magazine’s heyday. Nevertheless, that still doesn’t stop Mel Ottenberg from securing the crème de la crème from the world of fashion, entertainment, and beyond as cover stars. Names like Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Lily-Rose Depp, and Selena Gomez (with Benny Blanco), Natalie Portman, and SZA have covered the publication recently. Ottenberg, who became editor-in-chief in 2021, drops Sabrina Carpenter as an Interview magazine cover girl for September 2025. The Grammy Award-winning American songstress teams up with the photographer Brianna Capozzi for the occasion, with Mel Ottenberg himself on styling duties. In the quirky cover shot, Sabrina shaves her face (seemingly in a homage to the iconic 1965 cover of Esquire) wearing a Valentino bustier.

“So confusing! Why is she so far to the left? I guess the photo of Virna Lisi shaving inspires this,” noted forum member GERGIN.

“Boring. Sabrina Carpenter never does anything original. Always referencing images from the past,” voiced an unimpressed jeje10.

“The shaving adds a sense of quirk to the cover but it’s making zero sense to me, and I mean… zero. The cropping and composition is also very strange and off-putting. A shame too, because I think Sabrina has been styled quite nicely here. The Valentino corset looks great!” commented vogue28.

MModa reasoned: “It might not be her best cover to date, but I see Sabrina Carpenter, and I am very satisfied by the cover!”
