Met Gala 2025: Theme, Date, Hosts, Dress Code & Everything Else You Need to Know

Believe it or not, the Met Gala 2025 is fast approaching and we already know a few of the details about the annual event. Each year, we all tune in to see our favorite celebrities and artists celebrate fashion by interpreting a theme set forth by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and this year is no different.

On October 9, the Metropolitan Museum of Art held a press conference to announce the theme and co-chairs for next year's event and exhibition. Ahead, here's everything you need to know about the 2025 Met Gala.

The Met Gala takes place on the first Monday in May each year. That means the Met Gala 2025 will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025.

The Met Gala 2025 theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” According to Vogue, it's inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. While there haven't been many details about how this applies to the dress code, Vogue revealed that the exhibit will explore “style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th century through present.”

Vogue announced the official dress code on February 4, 2025. In line with the theme, focusing on dandyism, the dress code is “Tailored for You." As stated by the Met the dress code is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and is “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.” The dress code is supposed to encourage guests to embrace their personal style through tailored silhouettes, reimagining the world of menswear.

Vogue has announced that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour will co-chair the 2025 Met Gala alongside honorary chair LeBron James.

While the guest list is always kept under wraps until the day of, Vogue announced a slew of big names that will be a part of the Met Gala's host committee — a select group of top creatives, artists, and athletes. So we can expect to see stars like Simone Biles, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Janelle Monáe, Angel Reese, Sha'Carri Richardson, Olivier Rousteing, Tyla, and USHER in attendance.

On April 22nd, Vogue officially announced this year's red carpet hosts via Instagram. In a group Facetime call we see LaLa Anthony (who has been a longtime host of the carpet), Teyana Taylor, and Ego Nwodim. “I've been doing the Met Gala livestream for a long time, now I got my girls joining me. It's going to be crazy, I'm excited ot be doing this together,” Anthony said in the video. Nwodim added in on the video: “It's me and Teyana at the arrivals and Lala at the top of the stairs. Anthony added that the carpet will start at 6 p.m. so we're sure to be in for a treat. The girls laughed together saying that everyone in attendance will be looking ”super fine" (a nod to the theme.) Taylor added in that there will be a ton of “Dandy and Daddies," something we should all be looking forward to.
