Considering a Polestar 4? Here’s 10 Things I Loved About It (And Why You Should Consider It for Your Next Car)

- Head-turning Swedish design and sports car performance make the Polestar 4 one of the most exciting EV crossovers in Australia right now.
- Luxury features without the fuss, from a world-class Harman Kardon sound system to a beautifully simple centre console and ambient lighting.
- Real-world practicality with easy parking, a solid 400–450km range, and serious value starting from AU$78,500.
We’ve had the Swedish-designed Polestar 4 since April 22nd, putting it through its paces around Sydney — from the terrace-lined streets of Redfern to the chaos of Bondi. Along the way, it’s turned more than a few heads. We’ve had people pull up next to us wanting to know what it was, another bloke bailed me up in a cafe wanting to know if it’s ‘any good’. It’s even had my dog Misha riding shotgun (on a towel, of course).
After living with the car for a week, here are 10 things I absolutely loved about it — and why you might want to put it on your shortlist if you’re looking for something electric, stylish, and seriously quick.

The Polestar 4’s design is a real standout. From the sharp, modern lines to the welcome star sequence and the Thor’s Hammer headlights, every detail feels premium. The Swedish gold accents add a subtle flair without overcooking it. It’s one of the best-looking EVs on the market right now.

It’s deceptively big but not cumbersome. It feels like a proper SUV inside, with loads of space for a young family, gear, or even just the weekly overpriced Harris Farm run. That said, it doesn’t feel bloated. It’s nimble enough that even empty nesters or solo drivers would find it just right. While parked at a café in Bondi, an older gentleman even came over asking all about it — and I told him straight: it’s a solid option for just about anyone.

It’s hard to overstate how good the Harman Kardon system is in this car. I cranked Rüfüs de Sol, Digweed, Sasha, Chicane — the lot — and it sounded like the car was built around the speakers. Deep bass, clear highs, and no distortion even at questionable volumes on the M4. Easily one of the best sound systems I’ve ever heard in a vehicle. Fully sick, bro.

With the Performance Pack fitted, the Polestar 4 is ridiculously quick. It’s not just fast off the mark, it’s “your eyes start wobbling” fast. Handling is tight and sports car-like, striking a perfect balance between comfort and proper performance driving. This is a car that delivers on its promises.

A lot of modern cars overcomplicate things. Not the Polestar 4. The centre console is clean, intuitive, and easy to use — everything you need, nothing you don’t. It’s refreshingly simple without feeling basic.

Inside, the ambient lighting lifts the whole experience. It stretches all the way into the back seats, creating a true luxury feel without being distracting at night. It’s that perfect amount of glow that makes late-night drives feel just that little bit cooler.

Polestar got the infotainment system absolutely right. It’s user-friendly without being dumbed down, smart without being complicated. Compared to brands like Chery and BYD, there’s simply no contest. It feels polished, functional, and premium — everything you want from a modern EV.

Real-world range is a huge selling point. The Polestar 4 easily hits that 400–450 kilometre sweet spot, which will be more than enough for most drivers without having to constantly worry about charging.\

Forget about not having a rear window — you won’t miss it. The rear camera is crystal clear, and the full-length panoramic glass roof gives the cabin a bright, open feel. It tricks your mind into thinking you’re driving a much bigger car, but when it comes time to park, it’s still super manageable.

Speaking of parking, this might just be one of the easiest SUVs I’ve ever parked. Between the sharp cameras, clever sensors, and good visibility, the Polestar 4 makes tight urban manoeuvres a non-event.
While it wasn’t one of my original 10 points, it deserves a mention: the long-range duel motor starts at AU$88,350++, you’re getting a hell of a lot of luxury, tech, and performance for the money. In a world where electric SUVs can easily stretch deep into six figures, the Polestar 4 feels like a smart and stylish buy.
