10 Spring-Summer 2026 Trends We Loved at New York Fashion Week

Another NYFW season has come to a close which means we have some Spring-Summer 2026 trends to obsess over. Now that the week of dashing between venues, off-guard posing for street style photographers, and trying to find a phone charger between shows is finally done, we can lock into the real fun: looking at the trends we believe will stay a little longer. With an onset of emerging and returning designers to NYFW, we're seeing a slew of fun trends surface. And if there’s one thing the Spring-Summer 2026 collections made clear, it’s that fashion is not only telling a story, but they're getting silly with it.

Coach embraced an eclectic utility: think oversized buttons, pring mixing, distressed shirts, and off-centered ties. Sandy Liang doubled down on her retro coquette aesthetic, bringing us balletcore with modern twists: lace pants, collared shirts, and exaggerated shoulders.

There's a nod to experimental fashion happening on the runway with the Spring-Summer 2026 trends we're seeing. Fashion wants to have fun again. So expect to see these bold ideas trickle down fast. Whether it’s a distressed sweater tank or ballet flats paired with striped knee-high socks on the subway. Spring 2026 is all about the mix.

Brandon Maxwell, Simkhai, and Area all leaned into the ripped jeans look during their SS26 collections. Which is only telling us that the 2010s era is slowly creeping back up.

Notably very popular for wedding dresses, the Mermaid silhouette saw some new life in dresses that go beyond your big day.

From Diotima, House of Aama, Ulla Johnson, and Kim Shui, ruffled blouse, pants, and dresses were all over the runway. Another nod to the 2010s for the more boho-aesthetic leaning fashionistas.

Between Altuzarra, Bach Mai, and Khaite, we saw several polka dot looks, which means this popular print will be having its moment in the sun.

Ties have never really gone out of style, but wearing them in a slightly different way seems to be the move now. At Jane Wade we see a connected, same-colored tie to a slightly bridged open button down adding a edge not often connected to a generic “office 'fit.” At Coach we have a tie connected to a jean jacket instead of in its traditional placing, making the outfit feel less professional and more exciting.

Print Mixing is something most people are afraid of, but we're seeing it more and more on this season.

Who doesn't love drama? And having a slightly more exaggerated shoulder (as seen in Christian Cowan and Sandy Liang) in your outfit adds exactly that.

From Jason Wu and Zankov to Jane Wade and Altuzarra, fringe with thick layering adds a whimsy most of us should be chasing right now.
