Running Point Season 2: Everything We Know

Netflix announced that Mindy Kaling’s sports comedy Running Point, starring Kate Hudson, had been renewed for a second season. On X, formerly Twitter, the streamer wrote, “It’s official: See you next season. Running Point S2 is coming.”
They included a video montage featuring all the comments from fans demanding more of the show and Hudson announcing to the camera, “A good basketball team owner knows when to listen to the fans. So we hear you and so did Netflix. Running Point is officially coming back for season 2. Thank you so much everyone who watched the show so far. I’m just beyond thrilled because you’re really the reason we’re able to come back.”
“We are so thrilled to be able to deliver a season 2 of Running Point to the fans of the show,” Kaling also said in a statement.
So for the fans, here’s everything we know about season 2 of Running Point.
What will season 2 of Running Point be about?Season 1, which premiered on February 27, follows Isla Gordon (Hudson), an executive in Los Angeles who takes over the family business after her brother flips out. The family business is one of the most massively popular basketball franchises in the country, the Los Angeles Waves.
“I’ve been eager to dive into something comedic with a team I admire, and this role offered a fresh challenge and was hilarious and engaging right from the start,” Hudson told Tudum in an interview when the news was announced. “The chance to work with people I respect and to bring a unique female perspective to a male-driven world was incredibly appealing.”
Though there are no details yet on the exact plot of season 2, the comedy has so far been loosely based on the life of Lakers president and co-owner Jeanie Buss, who is an executive producer of the series.
“Having known Jeanie since I was a teenager, I felt a unique connection to the character,” Hudson said. “Jeanie’s life and career in the male-dominated world of professional basketball are inspiring, and her willingness to let us explore a comedic version of that world was liberating. Jeanie’s openness and sense of humor allowed us to push boundaries and have fun with the character. We were able to focus on the heart and passion of a woman striving to succeed in a challenging role.”
Who will appear on season 2 of Running Point? The current cast includes Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Brenda Song, Max Greenfield, Jon Glaser, Jay Ellis, Dane DiLiegro, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Uche Agada, Roberto Sanchez, Scott Evans, and Justin Theroux.
