Prince Harry has issued a new statement, just hours after he announced his £1.1million donation to BBC Children in Need to support young people affected by youth violence. The Duke of Sussex visited Nottingham on Tuesday, the second day of his four-day trip to the UK, where he visited the Community Recording Studio (CRS), a charity he has a close relationship with.

He said his gift has come from his own money rather than his Archewell Foundation and described it as an "investment in futures" and urged others to step up. Hours later, the Duke's office shared a new press release on its website about his latest visit and highlighted how Nottingham has "always held a special place in the hearts of those who understand the true meaning of community".

It added that during Harry's visit, the "sense of belonging and collective strength was on full display as local organisations demonstrated their unwavering commitment to supporting young people and building brighter futures".

Harry hailed CRS, saying the charity represents "far more than a recording studio" and praised its efforts to build "resilience and create pathways to success".

The Duke also hailed local organisations that "collectively prove what becomes possible when communities step up, commit to change, and create opportunity in ways that create lasting impact".

The statement also highlighted the challenges faced by those who have witnessed youth violence in the area, saying it still remains "a critical issue that cannot be ignored".

Harry dubbed his donation as an "investment [that] represents more than charitable giving," citing words from his speech while there, when he said: "It’s belief in young people’s potential, in their future, and in the power of communities like Nottingham to lead the way."

The Duke's statement added that the individual contributions are not enough and called for "collective action" from multiple sectors.

He concluded by hailing Nottingham as having the "blueprint for success" while also urging "full commitment from all of society" for the city to reach its "full potential."

The statement read: "The potential for transformative change remains boundless."

The Duke of Sussex is expected to be back in London today for his third day of engagements.
