Police charge one man, search for another after assault in southeast London

London police say one man is in custody and another is being sought in connection with a serious assault on Friday at a home in the city's southeast.

Police say they were called to the home near Deveron Crescent and Shelborne Street around 8 p.m. for a disburbance, and found a man with serious injuries who paramedics transported to hospital.

Investigators believe two men went to the home looking for the victim, alleging they brandished weapons and assaulted the victim after the three became involved in an argument.

One man, a 43-year-old from London, was arrested nearby, and has been charged with aggravated assault and mischief under $5,000.

The other suspect fled in a silver Cadillac SUV with the Ontario licence plate DETL 324, police said. He is described as an Indigenous male, approximately 25-years-old, with a medium build, wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts.

The 43-year-old accused is due back in court Oct. 24.

Police are asking members of the public to contact them who can identify the suspect or vehicle or have relevant surveillance or dash-cam video.
