Man killed diving into shallow water at Ipperwash Beach

Provincial police in Lambton County say a Lambton Shores resident is dead after an incident at Ipperwash Beach on Sunday, south of Goderich.

Emergency services were called to the beach off Lake Huron at around 6:20 p.m., at the section near the end of Ipperwash Road, police said. They found an unresponsive individual who had been brought to shore by another person.

An early investigation determined the individual had entered shallow water after diving from a vessel and became unresponsive. The 44-year-old was taken to hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.

The incident happened the day before an 18-year-old from London drowned at the same beach, moments after a 12-year-old was rescued by bystanders.
