Iconic royal home that could belong to Prince George in the future

Prince George is being carefully prepared for a future that will one day see him accede to the throne, after his dad, Prince William. Along with new titles and responsibilities, royal heirs traditionally inherit properties that serve both as private residences and working royal estates. Among these is Clarence House, a historic London home steeped in royal legacy. It's a home that Prince George is likely to inherit in the decades to come.
Clarence House, located on The Mall in London, has long served as a home to senior members of the Royal Family. It was first built in the 1820s and it has since housed various royals, including Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Princess Elizabeth (before she became Queen Elizabeth II), and currently, King Charles. Since ascending the throne in 2022, King Charles has continued to use Clarence House as his main London residence while Buckingham Palace undergoes renovations.

The Grade I listed building serves as the King's residence as well as his household's offices. Five of its principal rooms serve as receptions for hosting and receiving diplomatic visits.
The Lancaster Room, a drawing room with a central fireplace and views of the garden shared with St James's Palace, is the first room in the home. The Morning Room, a cool-toned blue drawing room across the hall from the Lancaster Room, has hosted numerous distinguished visitors, including King Felipe of Spain.
The Library is a transitional space between the Morning Room and the dining room, and is accessible through double doors. It has served as a reception area for casual get-togethers. It also contains a Garden Room and is so named because it has four windows that look out onto a well-kept garden.
Prince William may take over Clarence House one day, particularly if he does not immediately relocate to Buckingham Palace when he becomes King. However, William and Kate, Princess of Wales, have established their main home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
Adelaide Cottage is currently where they are raising their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and it is near where they attend school.
While specific plans remain unconfirmed by the Royal Household, tradition and the current line of succession suggest that Prince George will likely inherit Clarence House one day.
Royal residences like Clarence House are not simply passed down, but they are typically held in trust for the Crown and allocated according to need and status.
