Trabzonspor's decision to Papara

Trabzonspor announced that its sponsorship relations with Papara, which was appointed as a trustee, will continue as is.

On the morning of May 28, Papara's owner Ahmed Faruk Karslı and 13 others were detained in an investigation into illegal betting. The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) also appointed trustees to 10 companies, including Papara.

The company is the stadium and jersey chest sponsor of Trabzonspor. It was a matter of curiosity whether the sponsorship would continue.

The claret-blue club made the following statement to the Public Disclosure Platform regarding the issue:

“As a result of our discussions with the board of directors appointed by TMSF (to Papara), it was agreed that our advertising and sponsorship relationship with Papara will continue as it has been until today, and the process from now on will be carried out together with the appointed board of directors.”

Trabzonspor and Papara signed a five-year sponsorship and advertising agreement in August 2023.

According to the contract, Papara was to pay the claret-blue club 236 million + VAT annually, for a total of 1.4 billion lira including VAT.

The annual fee would be increased by the annual inflation change rate, which would be announced in June before each season.
