Protests against Israel continue in LaLiga

In the Spanish First Football League (LaLiga), demonstrations against the state of Israel due to its occupation of Palestinian territories and its attacks in Gaza and the West Bank continued. The banner that Osasuna fans opened in the Osasuna-Real Madrid match played on February 15 in the 24th week of LaLiga was repeated in the Alaves-Espanyol matches played on February 22 and Sevilla-Mallorca matches played on February 24 in the 25th week of the league. Before the match played at Mendizorroza Stadium, Alaves' home field, which ended with the away team leading 1-0, Alaves fans showed their reaction by showing the red card to genocidal Israel by unfurling a Palestinian flag in a choreography and holding red cardboards in their hands. Similarly, at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, where the match between Sevilla and Mallorca drew 1-1, the fan group chanted "Show Israel a red card" The fans unfurled a banner saying "show" and a Palestinian flag. The fans wanted Israeli teams to be excluded from all international sporting competitions due to Israel's attacks on Palestine. The protests against Israel that took place in stadiums in Spain have been seen in many countries around the world for a long time. THE CALL BY CELTIC FANS WAS EFFECTIVE Announcing that they were working to organize protests in support of Palestine in more than 30 countries around the world, Celtic's "Green Brigade" fans group had brought together fans of different languages, races and religions in the stands at matches played in many countries including Spain, Chile, Turkey, Italy, Indonesia and Belgium, along with Scotland, and ensured that "Show Israel The Red Card" banners were unfurled. DOUBLE STANDARDS FROM FIFA AND UEFA Israel, which has massacred more than 48 thousand Palestinians, including children, women and the elderly, in Gaza since October 7, 2023, continued to appear in sports organizations in the 15 months leading up to the ceasefire. Despite the genocide that has been going on for more than a year, international umbrella organizations in sports have not issued a condemnation message, let alone imposed sanctions on Israeli teams and athletes. Israeli athletes continued to compete in international tournaments while athletes were being killed in Palestinian territories. The decisions taken by the umbrella organizations of sports, which ignore the crimes against humanity committed by Israel, regarding Russia, which invaded Ukraine in 2022, were noteworthy. On the second day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, UEFA released a message that included the following statements: "There are concerns in the international community about the security of Europe. We strongly condemn the ongoing Russian military aggression in Ukraine. UEFA is working to develop football in line with the Olympic spirit and within the framework of Europe's common values such as peace and respect for human rights." FIFA, which convened on the same day, announced that international football matches would not be played in Russia and that the Russian flag and anthem would not be used in the matches. On the fourth day of the conflict, FIFA and UEFA suspended the participation of Russian clubs and national teams in their organizations. Russian teams have not been able to participate in international competitions since that day. Despite this stance against Russia, UEFA and FIFA have played the "three monkeys" so to speak regarding Israel. So much so that FIFA could not even give a positive or negative answer to the Palestinian Football Federation, which applied to them in May and requested that Israel be banned from the tournaments.
