Mother of the young man who was killed by Zehra Kınık: There is class discrimination

In the case where Zehra Kınık, the daughter of former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, who caused the death of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki in Beykoz, Istanbul, was tried, she was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison and her driver's license was confiscated for 2 years.
THEY OFFERED MONEY TWICE
Barlasçeki’s mother Hasret Doğan rebelled against the decision. Doğan, who spoke to ANKA, stated that the Kınık family had made them money offers twice before and said the following: “We did not accept them, despite this, at the last hearing they said that they had calculated the material compensation in their own way and opened an account in my name at PTT and deposited it there. We did not make such a request. Why did you do such a thing at the last hearing? Was such a thing done to influence the court? I think so. Because we did not accept the money offers made before either. Zehra and Kerem Kınık went to our family friend in person and said, ‘We are ready to do whatever they want, including the fountain and the like, in order to keep Batın’s name alive. There was also a sentence like this, ‘At least if he does not give up on the case, let him talk to the other family and convince them.’ Of course we did not accept it. My son’s right to life is not for sale. That is why I am pursuing this case until the end.”"HE CONTINUED HIS PATH CONSCIOUSLY"
Mother Hasret Doğan’s statements are as follows: “What is being said is that she will serve 1 year. That is exactly why people are not afraid. The sentence may seem high, 4 years, but that is not the case. What Zehra Kınık did was that she made a conscious choice not to stop despite the ‘Stop’ sign, which is a red light. She could have foreseen an accident while passing there, that is why these rules exist. The brakes of this vehicle did not fail and it could not stop. The driver of this vehicle continued on its way consciously. It is necessary to make a good distinction between an accident and consciously setting off on the road."THEY DISREGARDED MY PAIN"
At first, they said my child threw himself on the ground. When I read that, I thought, my child thought he was going to die and threw himself on the ground to save himself. Even the fact that he understood that he was going to die had a deep effect on me. In the next hearing, he could have at least held on to his friend, hugged him. They disregarded my pain, they disregarded the fact that my son was not alive. They displayed a great lack of conscience, a great insensitivity. What do you mean he could have held on to his friend while he was falling? They accused my son of this. A person who is embarrassed cannot make such sentences. He respects a grieving mother, the one who is gone. They tried to blame him. Finally, a sentence like this was used, 'He was alive when he was there.' They made fun of my mind..."HE BLAMES EVERYTHING BUT HE IS FAULTLESS"
He blamed everything; he blamed the road, the signs, the lack of lights, the crosswalk, the bus stop, the pedestrians, he really blamed everything. But he is flawless, how can this be? He constantly said that he is psychologically unstable in court. He can say that he is psychologically unstable and get in the same car for the second time and have an accident. While I am saying these things, I think about it many times. I put myself in his shoes. I don't want to see that car. I didn't see where my child fell, I can't go there. So how can he get in the same car when he caused the death of a child?Since many things go unpunished in the eyes of the law, it was said on social media that "He will not be punished, he will not go to prison." It was actually a fair statement. We were afraid of this, to be honest. The 4-year sentence made us happy for this reason. If he were to go to prison for life, it is not possible for me to be happy as they think. I lost a child. However, if my son was returned, I could be happy as they think. Therefore, it is not possible for me to be happy."
