US Considers Giving B-2 Bombers to Israel

In the US, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill that would provide Israel with B-2 bombers and bunker buster bombs to counter Iran's nuclear activities. The bill would authorize US President Donald Trump to provide these weapons systems to Israel.

Reps Josh Gottheimer and Mike Lawler have argued that Israel should have the capacity to target Iran's nuclear infrastructure, but the bill requires Trump to provide Congress with justification for granting those weapons and prove that there is no other option.

The B-2 jets, which the US has not yet given to any other country, are not expected to be transferred to Israel permanently. However, some senators have warned that the move would increase tensions in the region and endanger US troops.
