Symposium in honor of Korkut Boratav, the Teacher of Teachers

The Turkish Social Sciences Association (TSBD) will organize a symposium titled "From the World to Turkey: From Economics to Politics" in honor of Professor of Professors Prof. Dr. Korkut Boratav , from December 5-6 at the METU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences A Building. The symposium's organizing committee includes METU Department of Economics faculty member Erol Taymaz, TSBD Board Chair Galip Yalman, and Ankara University Department of Finance faculty member Serdal Bahçe. The deadline for submitting abstracts for the symposium is November 4.

The TSBD released a statement regarding the symposium, stating: “The symposium is being organized in honor of Korkut Boratav, who played a significant role and made a significant contribution to the development of critical economic thought and the social sciences in Türkiye. The congress aims to bring together academics and intellectuals who criticize, question, and contribute to the formation of social opposition across the country, thereby enriching the critical tradition that Korkut Boratav significantly contributed to its formation. In this context, we invite all our intellectual and academic friends conducting research on the following themes and topics to contribute with their work.”

• Labor/capital contradiction and distribution
• Türkiye's social and class structure
• Capitalism and Agriculture
• Crises, balance of payments and public deficits
• World economy / imperialism
• Transformation of the capitalist state - Turkish economic history

Abstracts must be a maximum of 400 words. The abstract title must include the author(s)'s name, email address, and institutional information.
