Shocking detail in horrific murder: He accidentally sent the murder video to his mother

In the case concerning the shooting death of dentist Mehmet Emrah Düşmez (49) in the head in the Konak district of Izmir, the defendant, Mustafa Ercan (34), appeared before the judge for the first time. At the hearing held at the Izmir 17th High Criminal Court, the statements of the defendant and witnesses revealed striking allegations.
"I WAS GOING TO SHOOT HIS FOOT, BUT WHEN I BENDED DOWN, IT HAPPENED TO HIS HEAD"
Defendant Mustafa Ercan, in his defense, claimed that the incident was not intentional, saying, "I intended to shoot him in the foot, but when I bent down, it hit his head. I left the scene with the gun and surrendered to the police."
After the murder, Ercan took Düşmez’s phone and recorded the scene of the incident, and stated that he accidentally sent the video to his mother: “I was going to send it to my girlfriend, but her mother was listed as ‘my love’ in my contacts, so I got mixed up.”
'MY LIFE HAS BEEN TURNED UP'
Ercan claimed that he and Düşmez had been long-time friends and business partners and had used drugs together. In his defense, Ercan claimed that Düşmez had made him addicted, saying, "I barely left the house for five months. Things got worse during that time. My ex-wife and I divorced, and my children were devastated. I was financially ruined."
The defendant's ex-wife, AA, testified as a witness, saying, "Mustafa and Emrah were using drugs together. Emrah had my wife under his influence. He was the one who destroyed our family and broke up our home." She also claimed that Emrah Düşmez had collected approximately 6 million lira from her employees and herself.
Aysel Düşmez, the mother of deceased dentist Mehmet Emrah Düşmez, claimed that the defendant had a negative influence on her son, saying, "I told my son not to do car rentals. He ended up putting me in debt for 1 million Turkish Lira. I'm filing a complaint against this man."
Request for Aggravated Life Sentence
The indictment seeks aggravated life imprisonment for Mustafa Ercan for premeditated murder and up to three years in prison for possessing an unlicensed weapon.
The court decided to continue the defendant's detention and adjourned the hearing to a later date to complete the deficiencies in the file.
