Neither bombs nor missiles... The new 2-pound kamikaze UAV dives straight in! New defense technology will change everything

French tech startup Harmattan AI has unveiled a groundbreaking new technology for the defense industry. This innovative drone, called the "Gobi," is designed to neutralize enemy drones in less than a minute by directly striking them instead of using explosives.
According to the news on focus.de, the Gobi, which weighs under two kilograms because it does not carry conventional warheads, can reach speeds of 250 kilometers per hour and destroy targets hundreds of times heavier, weighing up to 600 kilograms, within a range of 5 kilometers.
NEW GENERATION DEFENSEUnlike missiles that detonate using proximity sensors, the Gobi moves like a kamikaze, physically locking onto its target. Equipped with infrared tracking and computer vision systems, the drone autonomously locates the enemy UAV's most vulnerable points, such as its propellers, and completes its destruction mission.
Harmattan AI reported that flight tests of the first models are continuing successfully.
WHY IS IT A CRITICAL TECHNOLOGY?These types of interceptor UAVs are considered critical to today's warfighting landscape. Innovative platforms like the Gobi demonstrate how advances in civilian technology are profoundly and rapidly transforming the defense industry.
The focus is now shifting from large, costly explosives to AI-powered, precise, and intelligent systems. This is inevitably reshaping future security paradigms and conflict dynamics.
