Google fined $314 million! Collected without permission

Google is being fined for different reasons in different states of the US. This time, in a lawsuit filed in California and covering 49 states, the company was fined $314 million for collecting data from Android devices without permission. The trial will begin next year.

The lawsuit alleges that Google collected data from Android phones in standby mode without users' consent, consuming cellular data in the process.

According to the news reported by Reuters, the lawsuit was filed collectively on behalf of 14 million California residents in 2019. The lawsuit alleged that data was collected without permission from idle Android phones, but Google was found guilty after the investigation. It is estimated that the data in question was collected for purposes such as targeted advertising.

Google will appeal the $314 million fine. If Google is found guilty on appeal, the payment will be paid to users of the devices in California.
