Flames spread to the house of 81-year-old İbrahim Erkan in the Suçıktı Neighborhood. Bedridden Erkan, who was alone in the house, lost his life in the fire.
A fire broke out yesterday in a forested area in the Monastir area of Tosunlar Neighborhood in Ödemiş, and the Izmir Forestry Regional Directorate and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. The fire, which spread rapidly due to the wind, reached the Sucıktı Neighborhood, and Tosunlar and Sucıktı neighborhoods were evacuated as a precaution.
ANIMALS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WERE ALSO EVACUATEDAll of the cattle and sheep in the Köseler Neighborhood, which was evacuated in the morning hours, were also taken out of the neighborhood by trucks.
Citizens started to transport their animals by trucks to the live animal market facilities in Ödemiş district.
On the other hand, Üzümlü Neighborhood was also evacuated due to the fire growing rapidly due to the wind.
Citizens took their vehicles and belongings and fled the area.

Three forest workers who were affected by the smoke while responding to the fire were treated in ambulances in the region.
The Izmir-Aydin Highway was closed to traffic in both directions starting from the Kaynaklar and Toll Booth locations.
In addition, vehicles are not allowed to pass at the Kısıkköy junction of the Gaziemir-Torbalı highway.

It was reported that during this time, sparks first spread to the garbage dump accumulated in the area and from there to the forest area.
The gendarmerie detained two suspects for causing the fire.
