CHP's Bulut makes a striking statement: The Palace's hourly expenditure corresponds to 1 million 544 thousand TL.

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut released a written statement regarding the Presidential Palace's spending, revealing some striking data. Bulut, who shared the Palace's spending for the first nine months of 2025, said a total of 10.004 billion Turkish Lira was spent between January and September. This equates to a monthly expenditure of 1.111 billion Turkish Lira, a daily expenditure of 37 million Turkish Lira, and an hourly expenditure of 1.5 million Turkish Lira.
"HE SPENT THE SALARIES OF 592,833 RETIRED PEOPLE AND 452,484 MINIMUM WAGE WORKERS IN A SINGLE SNAP"
Bulut compared these figures to the lowest pension and minimum wage, presenting a striking picture. Accordingly, the Palace spent the salaries of 592,833 retirees and 452,484 minimum wage earners in nine months. The hourly expenditure is equivalent to the salaries of 92 retirees or 70 minimum wage earners.
"In Türkiye, where the lowest pension is 16,881 TL, the Palace spent the salaries of 592,833 retirees in 9 months, 65,870 retirees in a month, 2,195 retirees in 1 day, and 92 retirees in 1 hour," said Bulut, emphasizing that these figures clearly reveal the inequitable income distribution in the country and the government's spending priorities.
"THE PALACE DOES NOT MAKE THE LITTLE SACRIFICE OF ITS OWN LUXURY"
In his statement, Bulut shared the data, saying, "The Palace doesn't care about the economic crisis, the people going hungry, the unemployed, and the low-income earning themselves a living. While citizens are becoming poorer every day, the Palace makes no sacrifices in its own luxuries. While the public is unable to meet their most basic needs, even a single minute of the Palace's spending is equivalent to a retiree's salary. This situation reflects both the economic crisis and political irresponsibility."
“SAVINGS MUST START FROM THE PALACE”
Stating that “This picture is a mirror of both the economic crisis and political irresponsibility,” Bulut called on the government to “start savings from the palace, not from the citizens.”
CHP's Bulut noted that while retired people are trying to get by on 16,881 lira and the minimum wage is 22,104 lira, and millions of minimum wage earners are stuck between rent and grocery shopping, the Palace is spending more than 1 billion lira every month, saying, "This waste, this extravagance is no longer acceptable."
